India - Taj Mahal at dawn - sm.jpgIt seems that FTTH plans in India are starting to take up, seriously. On September 12, Lightreading reported on Bharti Airtel and BSNL’s plans for PON deployments in New Delhi, Mumbai and other places. Last week another operator announced plans for FTTH deployments. Mahanagar Telephone Nigam LTD (MTNL) was reported to plan extending their fiber metro networks to FTTH networks, in certain places in the country. MTNL primary objective is to offer IPTV and “multiplay services” to the consumers.

While I was searching for updated info on the Indian telecommunications market I stumbled upon a very interesting blog. That said, should you like to find more on telecom regulation and policy in India you may wanna check out Reclaiming India by Praveen Dalal.
