		<description>And that figure is substantially above the $1500-$2000 per home that FTTH costs, at least in the US.  The residents of Lafayette, LA certainly thought FTTH would be good for them.  They voted 2 to 1 in favor of borrowing over $100M for the project ( see http://www.fiberforthefuture.com/ for the commercial site and http://lafayetteprofiber.com/ for a citizens blog).</description>
