Planned fiber network deployment in Wyoming enabled a local company to win a contract for teaching conversational English to south Koreas. FTTx network not only supported the company in wining the contract, it also helped in hiring teachers that will be able to work from home. The initiative was critically supported by Wyoming Department of Workforce Services which helped in teaching teachers the new technologies (teleconferencing etc.).
Building infrastructures and/or setting up and providing broadband services alone may not be enough. Local Government, public organizations and private firms are required to coordinate in many respects to eventually enable the broadband positive impact to local communities.
