moz screenshot $1.5bn for FTTH in RussiaTTK is a Russian intra–continental capacity supplier focused on providing low latency and high quality wholesale transit and access services to international operators at the shortest Europe – Asia route. The company has a fairly large footprint with 17 international gateways in Europe, former soviet countries and southeast Asia. The big news is that following the announcement of their development strategy for the years 2008-2015 which drafted their plans to go to mass market, they have announced a very ambitious plan to invest $1.5bn in infrastructure by 2015 aiming at small and mid-sized cities excluding Moscow and St. Petersburg. Last week, Sergey Shavkunov, head of international market analysis at TTK, speaking at Carriers World in London said that the company’s plans are to deploy fiber to the home, although TTK is aware of the economic risks involved in such a big infrastructure investment, especially in the current economic environment.

I haven’t been able to verify more of the project’s specifics, but if the project truely plans for an FTTH network, then 2 thumbs up, I say!
