trikalakl Invited at Broadband Cities 2008I am honored to be invited to deliver a presentation and moderate a session at this year’s Broadband Cities Conference. The event will be held at Trikala, Greece from the 21st to the 23rd of October and is co-organized by the International Network of E-Communities (INEC). In a special event in Athens on Monday (one day before the conference begins), all local communities of Greece will jointly sign the INEC Declaration on Open Networks. The document originated at Broadband Cities 2006 in Stocholm and has been signed since then by a large number of communities through out the world.

My schedule is going to be pretty tight and I love it. On Wednesday, I am giving a speech on the changing roles and challenges of central governments, and local authorities in today’s revolutionized NGA market. On Thurseday, I will moderate the “FTTP in action” session in which the aim is to elaborate on real practical implementation issues and contemporary regulation debates relating to the Fibre-to-the-Premises networks.

To be honest, I am really excited because among other things, I will have the opportunity to meet some of today’s key fibre people. I am also excited because I’ll get to finally shake hands with some of the eminent “Fiber Ring” members!

You can expect a review of the conference as soon as I get back to base.
CU at Trikala!
